Websites I can’t live without - Catalogchoice.org

Posted by: Juan Lopez-Valcarcel In: Internet| Publishing

You know it is that Holiday time of the year when in seven days you get seven shopping catalogs in your mail…

I have started testing Catalogchoice, and it might be just what I needed: a slick, easy way to stop receiving unwanted catalogs. Setting up a free account is a breeze, and the ajax menus help you quickly browse and find the catalogs you want to get rid off.

Another thing I had tried is Direct Mail unwanted list, but for whatever reason that did not stop the catalogs… maybe it is because by using my credit card in some shops it automatically means we want the catalog?

Catalogchoice even has a feel-good vibe to it:

Catalog Choice is a sponsored project of the Ecology Center. It is endorsed by the National Wildlife Federation and the Natural Resources Defense Council, and funded by the Overbrook Foundation, the Merck Family Fund, and the Kendeda Fund.

I guess what is now left to do is to stop the delivery menus, which in NY is a huge volume of useless paper… how many pizzas do they actually expect me to eat??
