Digital Media - whenever, wherever, but please stick to your country

There is something very appealing about the instant gratification that digital media provides. You can be informed or entertained on multiple devices and on your own schedule.
Want to listen to music on your radio, on the internet or on your mp3 player?… not a problem, just don’t try to use your US rhapsody account from an IP address outside the US or you will get a message saying that you cannot do it due to copyright restrictions.
Want to watch TV in your living room, over cable, satellite, the internet or mobile?… not a problem, just don’t try to use the Internet to watch the BBC shows online outside the UK nor the CBS shows outside the US.
I get it that copyright laws vary by country and that in each market the media owner might have different distribution/publishing partners, but at some point we are going to have to make sense of the fact that while the physical world has borders, the online world doesn’t.
